When: Saturday, July 04 “The 4th of July Parade is a summer highlight in Heath, and we hope everyone will mark
their calendars to join us at this patriotic event,” says Heath Mayor John Ratcliffe.
“We also invite veterans from any branch of the U.S. Military to ride in the parade on a
float created just from them so that our community may honor them for their
extraordinary gift of service. It is because of them and the many other brave men and
women who have served in our Armed Forces that we are able to celebrate
independence.”

Whether you participate in the parade or find a comfortable seat for viewing, expect a heartwarming hometown scene as Laurence Drive is drenched in red, white and blue and American flags waved with pride by all ages.
“Our July 4th always begins with the Heath parade,” says Stephanie Wade, who attends with her husband and two children. “The kids love seeing all of their friends, who are either watching the parade or riding in it on decorated four-wheelers, golf carts, trikes and bikes. And of course the popsicles are a big hit, too.”
“My husband and I attend the 4th of July Parade because it celebrates the beginning of our Nation,” says Heath resident Mary Fondren. “We especially enjoy sharing this time with our children and grandchildren and reminding them of the reasons we celebrate.”
Staging for the parade is at 8 a.m., judging and awards are at 8:30 a.m., and the parade begins promptly at 9 a.m. at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary School at 330 Laurence Drive.
A Best Decorated Award is presented in several categories including: Float; Bicycle; Wagon/Stroller; Golf Cart; Off-Road Vehicle; and Antique Car.
There are also awards for Best Costume; Most Patriotic Pet; and the Mayor’s Award.

Once the last of the brightly decorated entries have passed by, parade watchers and marchers alike will gather at the Towne Center Park Pavilion behind City Hall to cool off with free popsicles provided by the City of Heath.
