This weekend the whole world will be walking again with Scott Kelby, president of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and #1 bestselling computer and technology book author, in his Fourth Annual Worldwide Photo Walk™ — the world’s largest global social photography event in the history of photography.
This year, the Photo Walk will take place over two days in October giving more photographers from around the world a chance to participate. In 2010, more than 30,000 photographers walked in over 1,000 locations taking 6 million images in just one day. We anticipate that this year’s Photo Walk will be one of our biggest events.
Rockwall has developed a wonderful harbor district that captures many interesting aspects. Within one general area the developers were able to capture the great view of the lake with the beautiful light house perched on the docks. The water features of the district provide dimension with their architecture. With the beautiful layout, various heights, and extensive detailing the Harbor district seems to be the ideal focus for photographers to gather. It has so many things that can attract the shutterbug from textures, landscapes, abstract, water, and people. We are hoping to have live musicians, models, and watercraft available to photograph for the walkers.
Local photographer, Andrea Chandler, is helping Rockwall take part in this worldwide event by organizing a Photo Walk at/in Rockwall on October 1, 2011. Participants will meet and start in front of the Cinemark movie theater at 5 pm. Walkers will meet for Dinner at Ruby Tuesday at 7:45 pm to share experiences and pictures. Photographs submitted from the walk will be collected on the walk’s Flickr page and shared with the Scott Kelby group for their judging. There will be one walk winner, but all will be submitted to the international walk page.
