Sheri Stodghill Lecture Series 2017

The Sheri Stodghill Lecture Series (formerly called Brown Bag Lecture Series) presents programs of historical interest from noon to 1 p.m. in the third floor courtroom at the historic downtown Courthouse in Rockwall.

Lectures are free and open to the public. Guests are invited to bring a lunch to enjoy as they listen to programs that address topics related to Rockwall history.


Friday September 8 - Pioneer Medicine | Presented by Dr. Robert Sparks
Snakebites and bullet wounds to broken arms and diseases, pioneer doctors had limited medicines to help those living on the frontier. Dr. Sparks (whose father, grandmother, grandfather and great-grandfather were also doctors), will tell about the home remedies, the hardships and the medicines of pioneer doctors.

This popular annual program will re-examine the history of the rock wall and the most recent developments regarding Rockwall's unique underground formation.
