"Walk the Line” is a high school a cappella group from Rockwall High School under the direction of Leia Browning. They recently competed in the International Competition for High School A Cappella (ICHSA) and have earned a spot to compete at the National competition on April 21, 2017 at The Town Hall Theatre in New York City!
To get to one of the nation’s Top 8 groups, the group submitted a video in the Fall of 2016 to earn a spot in the Southwest Quarterfinal competition on March 4. Rockwall HS hosted this round this year and Walk the Line won 1st place with a nod to Carmen Witwer for Outstanding Soloist in “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. They then advanced to the Semifinal round at Flower Mound High School on March 25th. There, they competed with schools from Texas, Colorado, and Arizona – 11 total. At the end of the night, the winner would be announced as the Southwest Semifinalist and would ear a spot at Nationals. Walk the Line was victorious again and the kids are now preparing their set to sing in New York City. They will compete against all the winners of the semifinalists around the country in hopes of winning the ICHSA International Championship!
In order to get all the kids to NYC, Walk the Line will be performing a benefit concert this Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm in the RHS Performing Arts Center at 1201 T.L. Townsend Dr (at the Utley Middle School Campus). Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids and students. All RISD teachers are invited to come for free as a thank you for all your years of support teaching these amazing students.
Walk the Line also has a gofundme page which has been set up for online donations.
