The purpose of the park is to provide an area where dogs can learn to socialize with other dogs, kids and adults in a natural and stress-free environment.
The Rockwall Area Dog Park features:
– A completely fenced-in area
– Separate, divided areas for large breed and smaller breed dogs
– Grassy and shaded areas for play
– Water stations
– Waste pick-up receptacles
– Custom landscaped sitting areas
The Rockwall Area Dog Park will be maintained with purely organic fertilizers and pest control methods for the safety of pets and humans. The Park is handicap accessible, with conveniently located restrooms and ample parking. This dog park is the first of its kind east of the Metroplex. However, there are many dog parks currently in operation across Texas and these parks have proven to be well-used and beneficial to a wide variety of communities and their citizens.
The Rockwall Area Dog Park was designed, built, and operated at no cost to citizens of the community. It is supported by sponsors (persons and businesses) that will benefit from the Park and/or from having their name associated with the support of the park to the dog lovers who use the park.
The park opened on May 1, 2011. The City has graciously provided the land in Harry Myers Park, next to the Community Center, Children’s Play Area and Swimming Pool.
Rockwall PAWS is a 501 (c) (3) organization formed to help animals in Rockwall and the surrounding area. Rockwall PAWS works in support of the Rockwall Animal Shelter now operated for the City of Rockwall as the ‘Collin County Humane Society @ Rockwall Animal Adoption Center. CCHS@RAAC maintains a 97 – 98 % LIVE OUTCOME and Rockwall PAWS works to help make that happen through several programs.
a) “Save a Heart – Save a Life” is a program initiated by Rockwall PAWS in 2010 to provide funds for the treatment of Heartworm Positive shelter dogs at the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center and is now helping Royse City shelter dogs. Heartworm Positive dogs were previously considered unadoptable and prior to this program ALL HW positive shelter dogs were euthanized. Heartworm disease is easily prevented but very expensive to treat and is fatal if untreated. Over 110 heartworm positive dogs have been helped.
b) “Litter-Free Rockwall” by Rockwall PAWS sponsors low-cost spay/neuter clinics in partnership with Spay Neuter Network. Spay Neuter Network prices for care are very reasonable, but Rockwall PAWS offers financial assistance to those still in need of help getting their animal(s) ‘fixed’. Spay/neuter is the #1 method of reducing the number of unwanted and homeless animals that enter any shelter.
c) We encourage Shelter Adoption! All dogs and cats adopted from the Rockwall Shelter are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, wormed, checked for heartworm, and microchipped. We assist in adoption events and invite anyone wishing to add a family member with four PAWS to visit:
CCHS @ Rockwall Animal Adoption Center, 1825 Airport Road, Rockwall, TX, or call 972-771-7750, Ext 1.
Royse City Animal Shelter, 1101 N. Josephine St, Royse City, TX 75189. Phone: 972-635-6609
Both facilities are full of wonderful animals needing FOREVER HOMES.
Rockwall PAWS is excited to continue working to serve the animals in our community. To learn more or to make a donation to these programs please visit http://www.RockwallPAWS.org or you may mail a donation to Rockwall PAWS, PO Box 44, Rockwall, TX 75087

Hello! My name is Blue, formerly know as Blue ray! I am a 10 year old, male, American Bulldog/Lab mix and weigh close to 80 Lbs. I was recently surrendered by my owners and am now looking for my FURever home! I love to swim and take walks! I am house broken and crate trained! I have been known to be good with most kids and other dogs, however, I can be a bit timid at times. I would do best in a home that has a calm, and quite atmosphere. Due to my sometimes timid behavior, it is highly recommended that you do a meet and greet with me before adoption. Especially if you have other dogs or children in the home. My adoption fee is $125 which includes my neuter, rabies vaccination, microchip and heart worm test! I am heart worm negative.
All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX.
Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm.
For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 1 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com.

Rockwall Pets is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation formed by dedicated animal rescue volunteers. We use innovative programs to get pets out of shelters alive.
Statistics prove there are more than enough homes for all homeless pets. We believe that by convincing more people to adopt instead of buying their next dog or cat, we can save the lives of pets who are currently being put down in area shelters.
Nearly every pet we have available for adoption is a healthy or treatable pet who was at risk of being killed at a shelter.
You can help save pets without leaving home by becoming a foster family! We need temporary homes for pets who need to get out of North Texas shelters
Our ultimate goal is to help make Texas one of the first No Kill states in America.

Throwaway Ponies was started by Karen Bander and her daughter Mary, in 2005 to provide a home to horses that were old, lame and virtually unadoptable. Soon, the need for a rescue for other horses became apparent. Now, we have horses of all ages. Learning how beneficial horses are to building self-confidence and healing broken hearts, we added programs for children and adults using horses as therapists
This mission of Throwaway Ponies:
1. To provide a safe haven for horses who have been abused and neglected or who might have been euthanized because of their condition but were salvageable.
2. To work with women and children who have been abused and neglected.
3. To build self-confidence and leadership skills in everyone of our students, volunteers and participants.
4. To work with people of all ages who have special needs: children with autism spectrum disorder; people with emotional problems or who lack self confidence; children with developmental delays.
