The Rockwall County Discovery Garden, created by the County Master Gardener Association, demonstrates some of the latest research and recommended plant varieties. The 1/3 acre project is comprised of numerous small ornamental and vegetable gardens. Structure, texture, pattern, color, and balance are repeated throughout the gardens.
The Discovery Garden is an educational garden operated under the collaborative effort of the Rockwall Master Gardeners Assoication and the Rockwall ISD Ag Department. The garden's mission is to educate both youth and adults in Rockwall County. The goal of the garden is to grow the enjoyment of gardening in the county by offering demonstrations on site while allowing residents to see first hand recommended plants for our area. Native plants, flowers, trees, bushes, ponds and landscape design are on display at the Discovery Garden.
Master Gardener Association of Rockwall County members are local gardeners who take an active interest in their lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens. The knowledgeable gardeners volunteer to share information with the community. The MGA works in conjunction with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
Guided tours of the Discovery Garden are available for groups of 20 or more. The garden also provides ample opportunities for senior pictures, engagement and wedding portraits as well as family portraits. Call the Rockwall County Extension Office for details at 972-204-7660.
