Rockwall County Library’s Reading for Adults Program Helps Six Adults Earn Citizenship

Dec 30, 2010 -- Rockwall County Library’s Reading for Adults tutors and U.S. Representative, Ralph Hall, joined together to offer congratulations to new citizens Carmen Pellinghelli from Mexico, Sudha Patel from India, and Irene Hernandez from Mexico (in photo above). Firouzeh Banan from Iran, Martina Egar from Nigeria, and Glenda Salazar from El Salvador were unable to be present.

The Rockwall County Library tutoring classes helped each prepare for their citizenship exam which they passed with flying colors. Ralph Hall presented each new citizen with a an American flag which has flown over the capitol in Washington, D.C.

The Reading for Adults program provides free tutoring classes for those wishing to become new citizens. The program also offers ESL classes to help those from other countries learn to speak, read and write in English plus preparation classes for G.E.D. exams. Classes begin the week of January 10. Anyone interested in taking classes should register starting January 4 in the literacy area of the library or phone 972-204-7705 for further information.
