We are told this was the last remark anyone really took in as true`it was made by Sara Whittle herself.
“Money Talks” was her answer to several of the merchants seething with disdain for this approaching nightmare!
Not to mention who it affects, what about who it serves?
Gum dropping-wrapper throwing-slurpee with MDMA added for kicks and grab a bag of cheetos crowd.
I hope that these two who were already successful businessmen KNOW soon how they will be boycotted and reduced to the reputation of greed mongers.
It is brewing like never before with the good merchants paying for the Harbor-Unlike one of the businessmen who has made his way without having to do much except band up with Rob and Sara and no accountabilities for the safety or the drugs that are being shuffled around at the Harbor not to mention car theft and vandalism. It reminds you that smooth talking and greed usually go unnoticed until there is a huge social or economic problem. Since this is $7.2 million more than the county had planned for, we will now be going into our emergency reserves to build it. The voters rejected this plan not once, but twice, and are being told that it will now cost over 24 percent more than the figure we were assured would be an upper limit. The question to you, dear readers: Is this a good idea?
2009-12-19T20:48:42-06:00 Kids Daily Nutrition http://planetrockwall.com/forums/viewthread/67/ http://planetrockwall.com/forums/viewthread/67/#When:09:29:21Z
My Elementary Lunch Experience….

Now that school is fully underway and things are starting to settle, I decided I would stop in and bring my kindergartener and 1st grader lunch at their school…. Needless to say, I have a newfound respect for elementary teachers and volunteers, because the activity in that cafeteria was incredible! All these little hands and germs flying, kids reaching into their buddy’s lunchbox to see what special item mom or dad packed for the day…. Just a whirlwind of activity!

It the midst of all the commotion, I noticed the little girl sitting next to my 5 year old only had yogurt and barbeque chips set out on her tray; I asked her if her sandwich was left in her lunchbox and offered to get it out for her…. As I peeked in her lunchbox for the missing sandwich, I realized indeed it was missing- then she decided to tell me that her parents never pack sandwiches. I was just amazed! Here it was 11:15 in the morning and this poor child was expected to have enough energy and be able to focus and learn for the remainder of the day, having eaten only…. yes, barbeque chips; as she did not even touch the yogurt. As I looked down the table, there were more than a handful of kids that had brought only snacks from home, no balance and no substance to their lunches. Again, the amazement set in.

The little girl then picked her nose and reached over to my child’s tray and asked if she could have part of her burger. At that moment, I became incredibly aware of the germs that were being passed, and I couldn’t grab the hand sanitizer out of my purse any faster. The mom that I am, I went into “observe” mode very quickly, because there was just so much to take in in this cafeteria… As I watched the classes (mainly 1st and 2nd graders) file in accordingly, every 5-10 minutes, I just started looking down the line and I realized how unhealthy some of the children looked. I hate to say this, but honestly about 60% of the children I saw were visibly overweight, and then to see the “lunch” that they emerged with on their tray, there’s no question why. These kids were getting 1-2 snacks (like ice cream and chips) in addition to the somewhat balanced, standard meal that the school was serving for the day. That’s a lot of food! I just sat there with feelings of mixed emotions; amazement and sadness for these children were the top things I was feeling. Wishing I could personally go and fix each child’s tray to make it even somewhat healthy.

I am a certified nutritionist and a personal trainer, so I have seen a variety of supplements/ vitamins, etc. But then I came across this product a few years ago, Juice Plus. I wasn’t completely sold on it at first because generally my children do eat more fruits and vegetables then the average 5 and 6 year old. But I went ahead and ordered some, it was like $26 bucks a month or something and it guaranteed the daily servings of fruits and vegetables in 4 chewable gummies per day; including vitamins and minerals, etc. At first the difference wasn’t totally obvious, but then it dawned on me that I hadn’t had to take either child to the doctor in 4 months! That was a huge light bulb in my head- so I started looking for other improvements since putting them on Juice Plus…. at school, the number of warnings vs home-runs (for good behavior) were becoming obvious. Their behavior was also improving, at school and at home, I believe because they really had been missing vitamins and minerals that support their little brains and that they desperately need each day; they also were getting a stronger immune system to help fight off all these germs passed around at school. They offer capsules for adults, which I support as well- it seems to make my weight easier to manage and I have a noticeable amount of energy since being on them.

The point I am trying to make is 2- fold I suppose. I feel like we desperately need to teach children at an early age about nutrition and limiting their sugar intake and about eating balanced meals. It’s so hard to re-train yourself when you get older. My heart just went out to these young kids, knowing that they’re going to have self-esteem and self-image issues at an older age…. and how all those things could potentially be prevented. I think awareness is the key! And as parents, if we are not sure that our children are getting the adequate amount of nutrition to support their little bodies- we should have them on a supplement like this. It just gives extra peace of mind knowing that we are helping them to grow up strong and healthy. The second part of this is to support their immune systems on a daily basis. We have all heard of anti-biotics to fight off infection when we’re sick, but there are pro-biotics too. These support your immune system daily, so that you are not as susceptible to viruses or infection. Prevention is the key.

I have since become a Juice Plus distributor, which helps a little financially, but mainly I feel like I can share my experience with other parents and raise awareness that will in turn benefit our children. Please visit www.RockwallJuicePlus.com if you would like any more information. Be sure to check out the Children’s Health Study too; it allows you to track the improvements and changes in your children and you can actually get free product for them when you sign up for the program.

As parents, I feel it is our job to protect our children, keep them healthy, and to teach them tools that they can use throughout their lives. This is a good place to start…. especially after my elementary lunch experience!!!

Thanks for reading!

Lizanne Griffin
www.RockwallJuicePlus.com
2010-09-17T09:29:21-06:00 Rockwall PAWS Ribbon Cutting at the Animal Adoption Center ~ June 8 http://planetrockwall.com/forums/viewthread/52/ http://planetrockwall.com/forums/viewthread/52/#When:19:16:55Z
Mark your calendar ~ Adoptable Rockwall pets look forward to meeting you at the Rockwall PAWS Ribbon Cutting! Rockwall PAWS’ mission is to make sure every adoptable pet in Rockwall County has a loving home.
