I understand that the City of Rockwall has been having Fireworks at Harry Myers Park for quite sometime, but in my opinion it needs to be moved to The Harbor or at least somewhere close. I was at The Harbor and many people thought there were going to be fireworks there or at least at Chandlers Landing. There were lots and lots of people not happy about this and shortly after dark The harbor had very little going on! The Harbor area would benefit greatly in revenue from the draw to that area just for that alone! If the City of Dallas has to approve it and money needs to come from somewhere to fund it. Then get it figured out! There’s plenty of other crap in this town that its wasted on we don’t need!

It sounds like the lack of funding caught a few people off guard this year and the fireworks could not be paid for. Sources at the City’s Park & Rec Dept. stated that Harry Myers Park can accommodate more people, and years ago many wanted the City fireworks show at Harry Myers for easy accessibility.  So we were all happy with our fireworks at the park and at the lake. The lake is a great place for the show. What’s needed are sponsors to pay for the production. Hopefully we can make this happen next year. I’ve seen fireworks shows at both locations and Harry Myers did a MUCH BETTER job than the Harbor. The fireworks at The Harbor (2008) were too far out into the lake. Parking was a nightmare. I will never go to another fireworks show at the Harbor until they figure that mess out.

The fireworks at Chandlers used to be close to the shore and were spectacular two years ago.  Last year they ruined it by trying to display them to both the Harbor and Chandlers. Parking is a problem, but you can’t beat the fireworks show over the lake.
