2011 Mary Elaine House and Marilyn Miller Music Scholarships

The Lakeside Civic Chorus is proud to announce the recipients of the Mary Elaine House and the Marilyn Miller scholarships for 2011 are Elizabeth (Lizzy) Lenore Eidson from Rockwall High School, Emily Ragsdale from Rockwall High School, and Jacob Prentice from Rockwall-Heath High School . The chorus annually awards these scholarships to deserving high school seniors who will be majoring in music at an accredited college or university. Each student will receive $1,000.
Lizzy will be attending the University of North Texas and will study Vocal Jazz. While at RHS she participated in the choral program and the Jazz band (vocalist). Lizzy has also performed in various other musical productions.
Emily will be attending Viterbo University in Wisconsin where she will major in Musical Theater. She has performed in many musicals including those by Garland Civic Theater and Rockwall Community Playhouses. She recently starred as “Belle” in the Rockwall High School production of Beauty and the Beast.
Jacob will be attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He plays the Bassoon and Saxophone and aspires to perform with a major Orchestra. He has played in the Lake Pointe Church Orchestra for four years. He has also had top honor placement in All-State Band.
The Lakeside Civic Chorus is pleased to continue its longstanding tradition of supporting Rockwall’s young musical talent as they pursue their musical education. We congratulate these fine young people! Lakeside Civic Chorus is deeply honored to play a small part in their musical journey.
