4 – Local Fireworks Shows
Rockwall will hold the traditional fireworks display at Harry Myers Park on July 4.Rowlett expects a larger than usual turnout to their display this year, due to the cancellation of fireworks festivities in both Garland and Mesquite. Rowlett’s Public Information office stated they are able to use funds from the hotel/motel taxes to finance their traditional fireworks celebration.
Royse City’s FourthFest will also be topped off with a fireworks display at the Bulldog Stadium.

The slow economy has hit the pocketbooks of businesses who have funded the event in previous years. Scott Self, captain of the Seawolf, stated that The Harbor merchants and Chandler’s Landing Yacht & Tennis Club will not be sponsoring the spectacular fireworks display that has traditionally drawn crowds to the water for the 4th of July. Captain Self added that, to his knowledge, there are no public fireworks planned for Lake Ray Hubbard this holiday weekend.$1,000 per minute - Cost to produce this year's fireworks (Rockwall / Rowlett)
Rowlett's show, on July 3, will last approximately 15 minutes.Rockwall's show is scheduled for 17 minutes.
