Heath Community Welcomes the Season at Holiday in the Park
Heath, Texas -- December 6, 2009… The bitter cold weather was just the way Santa likes it as hundreds of Heath residents bundled up and gathered to welcome the Jolly Old Elf at the annual Heath Holiday in the Park on December 4.
Heath Mayor John Ratcliffe hosted the festivities that began with flipping the switch on the Christmas tree and the beautiful lighted vignettes placed throughout Towne Center Park behind City Hall.
Residents were then treated to wonderful performances by the Honor choirs of Dorothy Smith Pullen and Amy Parks-Heath Elementary Schools. The Rockwall-Heath High School cheerleaders and mascot Harley Hawk joined in to lead the crowd in a rousing rendition of Jingle Bells to help Santa find Heath.

After arriving to a joyful greeting, Santa made his way to the Heath Community Room where he visited and posed for photographs with all of the eager children and everyone was warmed by the hot cocoa, wassail and home-baked Christmas cookies provided by Rockwall Women’s League and National Charity League. Children also enjoyed rides around Towne Center Park on a miniature train.
Holiday in the Park is presented annually by the City of Heath’s Special Events Board, chaired by Joel Palin. Members include Brian Berry, Pamela Miley, Alma McClintock, Melody Hail, Jason Severn and Gayle Kuhrt.
