2009 Heart of Heath 5k Run/Walk Draws Over 300
Heath, Texas, April 13, 2009 -- More than 300 runners and walkers kicked off their Easter weekend by participating in the Heart of Heath 5k Run/Walk presented by the City of Heath Special Events Board on April 11.
“Participation increased 55 percent from the last year to be our best since we resumed presenting the run in 2007 after a four-year hiatus,” said Special Events board chairman Lori Lawing. “It was fun to see so many people from our hometown and neighboring cities enjoying the exercise and the outdoors together.”
“The popularity of the event is definitely increasing,” adds Tim Hartley, a member of the Special Events Board and race director. “We appreciate the generous support of our sponsors and prize donors, and thank the volunteers and staff for their hard work to ensure that everyone had a fun and safe time,”

All proceeds from the run benefit the Heath Trails System that will connect all public areas, parks and neighborhoods. The pancake breakfast following the run was equally successful as a fund raiser for the Rockwall-Heath High School Gymnastics teams.
