It’s a Groovy Time to Adopt a Pet!

If you've been thinking of adding a furry friend to your family, there is no better time than now! Now in the final two weeks of its Summer of Love 60's Power adoption event, the Rockwall Animal adoption center is reducing fees on all dogs and cats who have been in the shelter for 60 days or more.
Until the end of August, the fee to adopt an eligible dog is $25 and cats are free. Included in the fee are the first round of vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip, and Rockwall city registration.
This special is underwritten by donations to Rockwall Pets, a volunteer organization dedicated to reducing and ultimately eliminating the need to euthanize dogs and cats in Rockwall County. According to their website, "To reach that milestone, we have to achieve a "live outcome" rate of 90% or better. That means we adopt, return to owner or save at least 90% of all the pets we shelter in Rockwall." Roughly 10% of pets who end up in the shelter are considered unadoptable due to temperament or illness.
Unfortunately, overcrowding at the facility often pushes that rate higher, and dogs and cats who have been there the longest are at greater risk, even though they would make wonderful companions. The goal of the Rockwall Pets organization, along with other local groups like Rockwall PAWS, is to make Rockwall a "No Kill" shelter by next year.
Volunteers also conduct outreach activities at the Rockwall Petco every Saturday from 11am-3pm, and at the Rockwall Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8 to noon.
To take advantage of this special promotion visit the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center and look for the special symbol on the kennel to see which pets are eligible.
