Summer Camps, Summer Fun!

The City of Rockwall Parks and Recreation Department is offering over a dozen stimulating and exciting summer camps for youth of all ages from art camps to outdoor adventure camps. Our camps provide youth a safe, fun and exciting experience through the help of qualified instructors.

Mad Science Camps are a great way to entertain your aspiring chemist or biologist for the summer! If explosions fascinate your young chemist, “Bubbles, Smoke and Explosions” will be the camp for them. Your young Einstein will build a magical crystal garden as well as synthesize their own slime! Watch as smoke bellows from the NASA-styled rocket they build in class along with learning about our solar system and make a comet using everyday items! This will surely be a “shocking” good time when they get to experiment with a Van de Graaff generator.

Interested in Robots? Well, our “Robot Mania 2010 Camp” is for them! In this camp, your young robot fanatic will explore the world of robots and how the use of them will affect our future! They will also delve into the science of circuits and sensors!

For the little Secret Agent, the “Super Sleuth: Spy Masters” camp will sure interest your young detective. In this fun-filled, hands-on themed, science activity, your child will explore fingerprinting, figure out the science of forensics, become a super spy and become a top-notch code breaker!!

Looking for a more general science camp, check out “Earth: The Amazing Planet”. This camp covers multiple areas of science, from biology to engineering to chemistry. Kids can expect to build bridges and other structures then build a camera-obscure the next. Each day is different than the first ranging from creating crystal gardens, dying t-shirts and much more.

If you have a young designer in your family then check out our “Fashion Designer” camp is for them. Young girls will graduate from playing dress up to actually designing their own fashions for all occasions. They will learn design basics such as sketching, color, pattern and texture coordination which will be applied to an individual style portfolio. For your young princess she will love our “Fairy Princess Camp”. In this camp, she will have a great time learning to dress for the occasion, practicing good manners, making new friends and non-stop activities all about self development. Through non-stop activities and fun learning adventures, your princess will also learn all about self esteem development.

Do you have a young builder in your family? We have two camps that are sure to get your child building skyscrapers. “Lego Logo” brings young technicians into the creative, high-tech engineering environment of the computer age. Your young builder will get hands-on instruction of computer programmed projects along with detailed plans to follow. “Lego Mania” will engage the creative activities with “zillions” of pieces that will ensure that there is always enough for everyone! This innovative program provides opportunities for imagination and hands on learning under the guidance of a certified educator.

Our “TOT – Teams of Tomorrow” Camp is sure to keep your athlete learning while enjoying the sport of basketball. TOT Superstars will travel into outer space and have a BLAST combining fitness with academics! Travel into outer space this summer to keep your tot mentally and physically active with all of these world activities. Totally cool space facts will be learned through basketball, singing, movement and artwork. Your TOT Superstar will learn twelve ball handling skills! Educational concepts include: Space, rockets, sun, moon, constellations and much more.

For the young fitness enthusiast, check out our “Kamp Kinder Dance” Camp. In this educational camp, activities are combined with dance, gymnastics and fitness while your child learns numbers, colors and shapes! These activities are incorporate educational concepts in a developmentally designed curriculum that touches the total child!
