Rockwall Animal Services is hosting a low cost shot and microchip clinic on March 20 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center, 1825 Airport Rd.
All dogs must be on a leash, and all cats in a carrier. Rabies shots will be offered as a 1 year for $9 or 3 year for $24. All other basic shots will be given for dogs at $9 each or $18 for a 3 year shot. All dogs and cats in the city limits are required to be vaccinated against rabies at either one 1 year or 3 year intervals, depending on the type of vaccine used. Leptospirosis will be offered for dogs at $12 for a 1 year. Heartworm test for dogs will be $20, and they are recommended annually.
All Vax and HW test combo: $80 (3year Rabies/DHPP)
All Vax and HW Test Combo: $60 (1year Rabies/DHPP)
Cats may also receive FVRCP shots at $12 (1 year) and $24 (3 year). They may get a Leukemia shot for $18.
Also offered while supplies last will be microchipping for dogs and cats, which is an advanced pet identification and retrieval system. A microchip with a unique identification code is implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades of the pet. The pet owner then enrolls the pet with a Pet Recovery Service that maintains a national database and is available 24-hours daily, 365 days a year. When a lost pet is found, it can be scanned at an animal shelter or the clinic of a participating veterinarian. The animal's identification number is called into the Pet Recovery Service, and the pet owner is notified immediately. The fee is $20 and includes the chip and the procedure to administer it.
City of Rockwall animal registrations will also be available at the clinic.
For each spayed or neutered dog or cat the registration fee will be $5 for a 1 year registration and $15 for a 3 year registration.
For dogs or cats not spayed or neutered the fee will be $20 for a 1 year registration or $30 for a 3 year registration.
State law requires that dogs wear a rabies vaccine tag on their collar at all times, and wearing the City registration tag will ensure that your pets can be quickly identified and returned to you if they are lost.
Pet owners from outside the Rockwall City limits are welcome to request shots for their pets. Ensuring pets are vaccinated will help keep the Rockwall community safe.
