Classes are being offered for adults, youth and children by Rockwall ISD. The majority of the Rockwall ISD Community Education courses are held at the newly renovated Herman E. Utley Middle School, located at 1201 T.L. Townsend Drive. For more information, please call 972-771-0605. You can register online, by mail or in person at 1050 Williams St, Rockwall, TX 75087. There is a large selection of classes for adults. Enjoy some of the classes listed below.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to get your groove on? Well, check out these programs coming up in January:

Salsa/Merengue- Salsa is the HOT Latin dance full of energy and flirtatious moves. Merengue is the easiest of all dances. Classes are on Thursdays, January 20-February 10, 6:30-7:30. The cost is $60 a couple.

Triple Swing I- incorporates a triple step and is danced to slower swing music. Classes are Thursdays, January 20-February 10, 7:30-8:30. The cost is $60 a couple.

Two Step/Country Watz-Put on your boots and let's get boot scootin'! Classes are Thursdays, January 20-February 10, 8:30-9:30. The cost is $60 a couple.

Cha Cha- The most popular of Latin dances. Classes are Thursdays, February 17- March 10, 6:30-7:30. The cost is $60 a couple.

Progressive Double II_Beginning- This is a triple rhythm two step with West Coast Swing movements. Classes are Thursdays, February 17- March 10, 8:30-9:30. The cost is $60 a couple.

Rumba- A slow, sensuous and enticing Latin dance of subtle moves. Classes are Thursdays, March 24-April 14, 6:30-7:30. The cost is $60 a couple.

Foxtrot- The most popular of ballroom dances. Classes are Thursdays, March 24-April 14, 8:30-9:30. The cost is $60 a couple.

Need a little personal enrichment?

Learn to Use Your Sewing Machine- Learn beginning sewing skills. You will complete a fun project. Tuesday, January 18 OR Thursday, March 3, 6:00-8:30. The cost is $30.

You Can Paint- Learn how to complete an oil painting under the guidance of professional artist, Robert Garden. Classes are Thursdays, January 20-May 26, from 6:00-9:00. The cost is $42/session.

Instant Guitar for Hopelessly Busy People- Learn enough about playing the guitar in just a few hours. Tuesday, March 29 OR Thursday, May 12, 6:00-9:00. The cost is $25.

Mortgage Free in 10 Years or Less- Learn how to pay off your mortgage without changing your monthly spending. Thursday, March 31, 7:00-9:00. The cost is $20.

Writing Your First Book On a Shoestring Budget- Author Bobbie Christensen teaches you how to develop and complete your manuscript in just 6 weeks. Tuesday, April 5, 6:00-7:45. The cost is $22.

Become a Mystery Shopper- Learn how to become a mystery shopper. Tuesday, March 29, 6:30-8:30. The cost is $45.

Texas Concealed Handgun Certification- This class meets the state requirements for certification to carry a handgun. April 21, 26 & 28, 6:30-9:30. The cost is $120.

Kids Classes:

Musical Minds Junior Rockers- For those that love rock music and dream of being in a rock band. The class will conclude with a rock concert. Tuesdays, February 1-March 8, 6:00-7:00. The cost is $165.

Musical Mind Piano Club- Kids will have the opportunity to learn ad play their favorite songs andmusic on electric keyboards. Thursdays, February 3- March 10, 6:00-7:00. The cost is $165.

Ongoing classes and activities for kids:

Planet Kidz on Fridays from 7:00 pm- 11:00 pm for 2nd-6th graders
Drama Kids International is an on-going program after school for ages 4-17

There is also a large selection of programs instructed through the Texas agriLIFE extension programs, Family and Consumer Sciences and adult basic education in English and Spanish.
