Marilyn Mock of Rockwall
Marilyn Mock, of Rockwall, made headlines in 2008 when her random act of generosity saved a Texas woman from losing her home. Tracy Orr's home had been foreclosed and was in the real estate auction lineup in Dallas. Tracy, in tears, attended the auction to find closure. Marilyn Mock, a total stranger to Tracy, asked the woman why she was crying. When she heard Tracy's reason for being at the auction, Marilyn engaged in the bidding to buy the house. To Tracy's surpise, the generous Rockwall stranger bought the home to give back to her.
In the weeks since the auction Marilyn became a celebrity. National news reported the story and Marilyn was invited onto several televised interviews. It was reported that Tracy and Marilyn worked out an agreement where Tracy would make payments to Marilyn when she could. With the newly found fame, and an economy that was forcing many into foreclosure, a cause was born; Marilyn founded the Foreclosure Angel Foundation.
