Rockwall Women’s League awards Rockwall County Reading for Adults Program Grant as Summer Classes Begin
Submitted by Jamie J. RubushThe Rockwall Women’s League has awarded the Rockwall County Library Reading for Adults Program a grant for $250. Chartered in 1973, the Rockwall Women’s League has provided over $2 million in grants and scholarships to non-profit organizations and high school seniors in Rockwall County. The Rockwall Women’s League is committed to giving to having their gifts awarded to local recipients in the Rockwall County. The Rockwall County Library Reading for Adults Program was chosen to receive a grant from the League.
The Rockwall County Library Reading for Adults (RFA) program provides free educational support in all three areas to the community. Based in the Rockwall County Library, the RFA program has 285 adult students from 35 countries, and 75 local volunteer tutors. Serving Rockwall County for over ten years, the RFA Program offer free classes including:
• ESL (English as a Second Language)
• GED Studies and Preparation
• U. S. Citizenship Preparation
• Adult Literacy Studies
The Rockwall County RFA offers classes throughout the year, following the Rockwall ISD calendar plus summer conversation and GED classes. The summer classes began June 6, 2011 and will continue through July 20, 2011.
