An avid reader, 99-year-old Virgina Cambell of Lake Oswego, Oregon has discovered the iPad. Virginia has glaucoma, a condition that affects her vision and makes it difficult for her to read books.
Enter the iPad, her first computer according to the now-viral video showing her with the device. The iPad's ability to change fonts and increase screen brightness has given Virginia the ability to read again. It has “changed her life,” according to one of her daughters.
Using the device as a virtual keyboard, the 99-year-old enjoys writing limericks. Virginia wrote this one about her new Apple:
To this technical-ninny it’s clear
In my compromised 100th year,
That to read and to write
Are again within sight
