Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management is proud to announce that we are now using the Nixle notification system to communicate public safety information to registered users.
The Nixle notification system sends emails and/or text messages to your computer, mobile phone or smart phone devices (message and data rates may apply). Nixle can be used to alert residents of urgent emergency information such as tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings, large chemical spills or large scale power outages. Best of all: it is FREE to sign up!
Registering for Nixle is easy! Go to www.nixle.com, under Residents, click “Start Receiving Alerts Today” and fill out your information. You can tell Nixle what type of messages you would like to receive and where to send them. If your address is in Rockwall County, you will automatically be registered to receive alerts from Emergency Management through the Rockwall County Sheriffs Office.
Nixle is meant to be an additional resource for receiving urgent notifications. Residents are encouraged to continue the use of other resources, such as a weather radio, for urgent information notifications.
Other ways to stay informed of changing weather events in our area:
* Monitor local television or radio stations or their websites
* Go to Weather.com and customize the site for our area
* Purchase a battery-operated weather radio
* Call our office at (972) 204-7080 for more information
Rockwall County is recognized by the National Weather Service as a StormReady County.
