Adopt a Soldier for the Holidays

Lake Pointe Medical Center (LPMC) and Texas Regional Medical Center at Sunnyvale (TRMC) are partnering to host “Adopt a Soldier for the Holidays” to send actively deployed soldiers care packages for the holidays. Beginning December 1st, we will set up “Adopt a Soldier Boxes” throughout our LPMC. Employees, community members and other businesses may choose to participate in one or more of the following areas:

  • Within your business, adopt soldiers of your employees and coordinate with us for mailing.
  • Friday, December 10th: We will need volunteers to check and pack boxes, fill out address labels and tape boxes – 1PM to ?.
  • Delivery to the Post Office will take place on Monday, December 13th – details to be determined.
  • Money donations: For those who would like to contribute cash instead of buying items and filling boxes, we will apply the donation to the cost of shipping the boxes ($12.50 each).

Approved items soldiers have requested:
Baby Wipes, Waterless Soap, Hand Sanitizer, Shampoo, Conditioner, Lotion, Sunblock, Aloe Vera, Deodorant, Eye Drops, Saline Spray/Drops, Kleenex, Toilet Paper, Q-Tips, Disposable Razors, Baby Powder, Foot Powder, Dr. Scholls Moleskin, Blistex, Vaseline, Carmex, Insect Repellent (Deet) Writing Paper, Envelopes, Pens, Games and Puzzles (Hand Held), DVD’s and CD’s Chips – Doritos, Corn and Potato Snacks, Dips, (such as bean dip, or nacho cheese) Trail Mix, Poppycock, Butter Toffee (Popcorn),Crackers, Cookies, Power Bars, Cereal, Dried Fruit and Nuts, (Apricots, Bananas, Cherries, Mixed Fruit, Peaches, Pineapple, Raisins), Pudding, Jell-O, Soups (15 oz. Plastic Containers), Lasagna, Ravioli, Spaghetti, Mac & Cheese, Chili, Beef Stew, Chicken n’ Dumplins, Noodles & Chicken, (7-15 oz. Plastic Containers)
Chicken, Turkey, Salmon, Tuna (7 oz. Easy Open Packs), Individual Serving drinks
(Crystal Light, Kool Aid, Country Time, Smuckers, Capri Sun), Gum, Lifesavers, Hard Candy.

Information on Boxes and Shipping:
LPMC will have extra boxes to fill if you would like to stop by and get a box from us or stop by the post office and pick up boxes. Please bring boxes opened, not sealed, since we will be accountable for the items inside unless you fill out the shipping label accounting for the contents.

The boxes we will use are Large Priority Flat rate boxes: 12 x 12 x 5 ½ weight limit 70 lbs.

The boxes are free, but shipping is $12.50 when mailed to an APO or FPO.
