Fate Gets a New Disc Golf Course

The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony May 19 to celebrate the grand opening of The Cedars Disc Golf Course, a community service project of the Leadership Rockwall Class of 2013. The course is located in the Smith Family Park in Fate, and was designed by Life Disc Sports in Rockwall.

The mission of Leadership Rockwall is to identify and motivate emerging leaders, and to develop their potential for community leadership by introducing them to the realities, opportunities, and challenges of our civic and business communities. Each year, the new class chooses a new project designed to enhance the community in some way while educating themselves about how to work with local government.

Members of this year’s class are Stephen Geiger, Farmers Electric Co-op; Nathan Taylor, GMR Protection Resources, Inc.; Bobby Clay, City of Fate; Josh Sparks, American National Bank; Deuce Waters, City of Rockwall; Christopher Shaw, BB&T; Aaron Dobson, City of Rockwall – Parks & Recreation; Chris Henry, Lake Pointe Medical Center; George Warner, American National Bank; Deanna Kuykendall, State Representative Scott Turner’s office; Misti Potter, Boys & Girls Club of Rockwall County; Lauren Kennedy, Hilton Dallas/Rockwall Lakefront; Dana Macalik, Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce; Jennifer Spencer, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital; Ashlei Neill, RISD Education Foundation; Lesa Walker, Rockwall County Helping Hands; Shannon Estrada, Law Office of Shannon Estrada; and Julia Bryant, Royse City Chamber of Commerce.
