Margo Nielsen recently sat down for a live interview with GMT to discuss the community assistance and referral programs offered by Helping Hands. Nielsen shared the core services offered by the agency: Emergency assistance–helping families with shelter and utility payments, and food provided through the Helping Hands food pantry. Last year the agency provided 28,000 bags of food to those in need.

The Helping Hands Health Center served 7,500 residents last year who were without insurance, or were underinsured.

Generosity of Rockwalls affluent community help make Helping Hands thrift stores “the best thrift stores in north Texas, if not the best.” Margo stated, “One time an Ethan Allen truck pulled up and unloaded an entire bedroom set for us. Somebody just said — It doesnt fit, take it to Helping Hands.”
