“What’s Cookin’ in Dallas?…California Dreams!”, a fundraising gala benefiting One Man’s Treasure, will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, April 3rd, in one of Dallas newest premiere entertainment destinations, 3015 at trinity groves, located in historic West Dallas at the base of the new Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, and featuring incredible views of the downtown skyline. The event will feature complimentary wine to accompany the appetizers, sumptuous buffet, and chocolate desserts prepared by Chef Sharon Van Meter, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, Paris, France. Chef Van Meter brings over thirty years of culinary experiences to the Dallas area including positions as Executive Chef at the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago and International, Professor of American Cuisine at Le Cordon Bleu, Paris, France, Executive Chef, Neiman Marcus, Dallas, Texas, and Director of New Projects Development for FOOD Network TV.
The events menu is inspired by the fabulous port-of-call, San Francisco, and will provide a little taste of whats in store for the winner of the nights drawing–a trip for two to the beautiful city which is home to the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Fishermans Wharf. Trip includes round trip airfare from Dallas and either a 3 night stay at the Omni San Francisco Hotel, plus a $500 gift card, OR 2 nights at the Omni San Francisco Hotel and the third night in the Napa wine country, with a private chauffeured tour of several wineries, and $250 gift card. Tickets for the raffle are $20 each or 6 for $100. Winner does not have to be present to win.
Attendees can place bids during the silent auction which will include, among other unique items, an original artwork by Suzy Moritz-Rawdin, which was influenced by her recent trip to San Francisco. The artist’s work can be found in many homes and businesses throughout the United States, including the Dallas Omni Hotel which has also donated a one night stay for the auction. Live auction items include a two night stay at the spectacular Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans, a private wine tasting at Dallas’ Fuqua Winery, and a special “cochon de lait.” There will also be a putting green contest with prizes for first, second and third place, and additional surprises which will be revealed during the event!

The mission of One Mans Treasure is to empower men recently released from prison who come to the Dallas area by providing them with clothing and opportunities for networking. It is centered on the belief that if these men can obtain employment they can lift themselves from poverty into a positive role as a productive member of their community. For the past nine years, the Rockwall-based organization has served to help one man at a time regain his dignity and secure employment by providing him with clothing and resources. It will serve close to 900 men in 2014 and relies solely on the support of individuals, churches, and private foundations to provide operational funding for its ministry. Anyone interested in supporting the efforts of One Mans Treasure can send donations: 519 I-30 E #211, Rockwall, TX 75087 or for more information call Annette Jenkins 214-532-9819
