Record Number Participate in 2010 Heart of Heath 5k Run / Walk

Heath, Texas — Glorious spring weather helped draw a record 329 runners and walkers to participate in the Heart of Heath 5k Run/Walk presented by the City of Heath Special Events Board on April 3.

“It is very rewarding to see the event grow as people of all ages in our community take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy exercise and fellowship together,” said Special Events Board chairman Joel Palin.

Taking first place in the run was Jacob Phillips with a 16.04 time. For the third consecutive year, Kim Stark took first place among all women and was third overall with a time of 17.44. The first place winner in the Boys 14 and Under category went to Justin Tokuz. The first place winner for Girls 14 and Under was Rebecca Parsons.

“The City of Heath appreciates the generous support of the sponsors and prize donors, and thanks the many volunteers and staff for their hard work to make this tradition a fun and safe time for all,” said Heath Mayor John Ratcliffe, noting that proceeds from the run benefit the Heath Trails System that will connect all public areas, parks and neighborhoods.
