With Thanksgiving just around the corner, October and November are months when the community pulls together to “Fill the Pantry” at Helping Hands. Seeing this as an opportunity for a friendly challenge for a cause, Rockwall Police dispatchers have organized a donations drive at the Rockwall Police Department. From now until November 18, dispatchers in the Communications Center, along with one enthusiastic officer, are asking the public to drop off donations at the station.
The goal of Communications staff is to gather 1,200 items by November 18. They are currently just over 40% of their goal. Kelli, a dispatcher organizing the drive, stated that Helping Hands currently has the most need for monetary donations and toiletries.
The Rockwall Police Department is located at 205 West Rusk Street, across the street from the Route 66 Classic Diner and Elite Print Management. Boxes ready for items are located in the main lobby and Records area, and in the lobby of the Communications Center. To take part in the donation drive, please plan to pick up extra items during your next grocery run and stop by the station. Your donations will be greatly appreciated!
